Purging work orders

You can delete completed and canceled work orders that are no longer needed.

A work order is completed when the finished goods are produced and you ran Production Feedback Update (WO140) to update the Inventory Control and General Ledger applications.

You can delete all the information in a work order or only the detail data. The program offers two options:

  • archive data to flat files and/or

  • purge work order information (detail only or all information)

Purging work orders deletes these records. Archiving work orders saves these records to flat files.

Purge work orders

  1. Access Work Order Purge (WO300).
  2. Specify this information:
    Company

Select a company number defined on Company (IC01.1).

    Location

Select a valid stock location as defined on Location (IC02.1). It is also the production facility where finished goods are produced for work orders.

    Cutoff Date

Type the cutoff date of work orders to be purged. Any work orders with a production end date less than or equal to the this cutoff date are purged.

    Number of Days

This field, in combination with the next field, is an optional way to define a cutoff date of work orders to be purged. This field allows you to add or subtract a specific number of working days from the current system date. You can select Add days or Subtract days from the value list. The default is Subtract days.

In the next field, you designate the number of working days from the current system date that will be added or subtracted based on your decision in this field. The cutoff date will be determined by this field, in combination with the next field.

Note: You can either select a cutoff date in the Cutoff Date field or in the Number of Days field, but not both. If you type both a cutoff date and a Number of Days date, the application will use the Cutoff Date field.
    Delete Detail Only

Select Yes to delete work order details only for detail-tracked items on work orders. Select No to delete all information for the work orders selected.

    Archive Records

    Update Option

Select whether you want to purge the work order informations. Select No to list work orders without purging them.
