How tax integrates with other Lawson applications
This section explains how the Tax application interfaces with other Lawson applications.
Accounts Payable
The Tax application works with the Lawson Accounts Payable application to calculate and track sales and use tax. For example, a vendor sends you an invoice and should have charged you 8.0% sales tax. When you specify the invoice, you can assign a tax code to have the system calculate the 8.0% use tax. Accounts Payable not only posts the 8% sales tax to the General Ledger, it also sends a transaction to the Tax application. These tax transactions can then be maintained and reported on in the Tax application.
Accounts Receivable
The Lawson Accounts Receivable application sends customer account information to the Tax application.
Billing
The Tax application sends tax codes, tax tables, and tax rates to the Billing application to calculate tax on invoices and credit memos.
Currency
The Lawson® Currency application sends currency information (for example, currency codes) about the currency or currencies you conduct business in to the Tax application.
General Ledger
The Lawson General Ledger application receives billing transaction data from the Tax application when you print and update invoices and credit memos.
Inventory Control
The Lawson Inventory Control application sends item information to the Tax application.
Order Entry
The Tax application sends tax codes, tax tables, and tax rates to the Order Entry application to calculate tax on orders.
Project Accounting
The Lawson Project Accounting application receives activity information from the Tax application. This information is used, along with budgets, to collect and report on costs and revenues.
Purchase Order
The Lawson Purchase Order application receives tax information from the Tax application to calculate tax on purchase orders.
Strategic Ledger
The Tax application sends user analysis values to the Lawson® Strategic Ledger application for analysis and reporting on organizational profitability. (A user analysis field is a flexible, user-defined element that stores transaction information to measure profitability.)
Non-Lawson General Ledger
The Tax application lets you send journal entries to a non-Lawson general ledger through a custom interface.
Billing and Revenue Management
The Billing and Revenue Management application sends invoice information to the Tax application.
Cash Management
The Cash Management application sends bank transaction numbers to the Tax application.
