Defining user analyses and values

User analyses and user analysis values are analysis categories that store user-defined business information in Strategic Ledger transactions. This procedure describes how to define user analyses and user analysis values.

  1. Access User Analysis Values (SL00.1).
  2. Select New Analysis to access Define User Analysis (SL00.2)
Note: Once you define values for a user analysis, you cannot change the data type or field size.
  3. Define parameters for the user analysis. Use these guidelines to specify the field values:
    Name

Specify the name of the user analysis field.

    Description

Specify a description of the user analysis to be used for OLAP analysis.

    Data Type

Select one of these options to determine what type of data can be entered for the user analysis:

    • Alpha

    • Numeric

    • Date

    Field Size

Specify the size of the data field. The total size of user analysis fields cannot exceed 103 characters. This includes automatic comma separators between each field.

  4. Add the new user analysis. The system will bring you to User Analysis Values (SL00.1).
  5. (Optional) Define a table of valid values for the user analysis. Use these guidelines to specify the field values:
    Value

Specify the values that you want to include in the user analysis. The values must meet the parameters you defined on Define User Analysis (SL00.2).

    Description

Specify a description of the value. If left blank, then the Value entry will default as the description.

    Class

(Optional) Select a class to assign to the value. See Class.

    Stat(us)

Select an Active or Inactive status for the user analysis value. Inactive values cannot be used in transactions.

    Att(ribute)

(Optional) Select Att to associate the user analysis value with an attribute. See Assigning attributes to user analysis values.
