Strategic Ledger process flow

The Strategic Ledger application involves three main processes: setup, processing, and output. This section takes a closer look at setting up Strategic Ledger and using the application to analyze your business information.

Before you set up the Strategic Ledger application, you must set up the General Ledger application.

Setup

Before using the Strategic Ledger application, you must set up information that identifies the data you want for analysis, including information in this list:

  • User analyses and user analysis values

  • User analysis groups

  • User analysis attributes

  • Transaction attributes

  • Value relations

Processing

Strategic Ledger processing includes capturing transactions and defining strategic ledgers. Transactions can originate in Lawson applications, or interface transactions from non-Lawson applications. You can select and summarize transactions into strategic ledgers based on specific transaction data.

Output

When you have defined strategic ledgers, you can use Lawson Analytic Architect application to transfer the Strategic Ledger data from the Lawson database into a data mart, or multi-dimensional database. This allows you to analyze the data using OLAP technology.

You also can view transactions and Strategic Ledger balances online in the Strategic Ledger application. The Strategic Ledger Transaction Writer enables you to select and print specific transactions.
