Compute statement

A compute statement is an arithmetic equation consisting of Lawson data dictionary names, total names, operation symbols, and numeric values that lets you create customized calculation formulas. You can use the compute statements that you define in these Lawson applications:

  • Report Writer

  • Budgeting

  • Ratio Analysis

  • Project Accounting

  • Allocations

  • Lease Management

Example 1

This compute statement calculates the percentage of variance between the current period amount and the current budget amount:

Example 2

Note: Report Writer can process compute statements that use column numbers in the compute statement.

This compute statement calculates the percentage of change between the current year and last year percentage of sales. Column 2 is the current year percentage of sales and column 4 is the last year percentage of sales.
