Defining a user class

A user class is a kind of security that lets you restrict the users that can modify and use information stored in folders. For example, a user can have access to modify folders 1 and 2, but not folders 3 and 4. You assign a user class to a folder. Users not defined in the user class can run a report from any folder, but cannot modify data. Use this procedure to define a user class.

  1. Access User Class (RW03.1).
  2. Click New Class to access Define User Class (RW03.2). Use this subform to define a name and description for the user class. After you select the Add form action, you are returned to User Class (RW03.1).
  3. Define the users that have access to the folder. Use these guidelines to specify the field values:
    User

Specify the user name for anyone who needs to have access to the folder. All the users defined in the user class can access the folder.

    Add

Select whether the user can add report data to the folder you assign this user class to. The default setting is No.

    Maintain

Select whether the user can maintain report data in the folder you assign this user class to. The default setting is No.

    Run

Select Y to allow user to run RW100. This flag is related to the Report Authorization flag on RW01. If the Report Authorization flag is set to yes, then the Authorized to Run flag determines whether the user can run RW100 for the associated folder or a report using that folder.
