Defining a course

Define the courses that are part of your training curriculum. When you define a course, all the companies within your organization can use it.

Course

Before defining a course, Training Options (TR00.1) must be defined.

To define a course

  1. Access Course (TR01.1).
  2. In the Course field, type a short name. In the second field, type a longer name for the course.
  3. In the Effective Date field, type the date the course is effective.
  4. In the Course Information section, use the following guidelines to enter field values:
    Type

Select the course type. If you select Reserved, you cannot create sessions for the course. Use reserved courses for cost tracking. Reserved courses can also be added to an employee's training history in Training History (TR21.1). Reserved courses that are added in TR21.1, will update Competencies (PA21.1).

    Category

Select the course category. The course category indicates the course classification. Examples of course categories include management training, new employee orientation, or technical development.

Note: If you use the Career Management task in Infor Employee and Manager Self-Service, your employees and managers can search for training by course category.
    Frequency

Select how often the course is offered.

    Approval Needed

Select whether the employee needs approval to register for the course. Use this field only if you selected the approval option on Training Options (TR00.1). Approval is for information only. You can register employees without changing the approval.
