Defining employee competencies

Note: Employee competencies are used to identify gaps when using the e-Human Resources Center's Career Management.

Track information about an employee's competencies. Personnel Administration uses competency information to determine if an employee is qualified to perform a job.

If an applicant is hired through a personnel action, information from Applicant Competencies (PA35.1) transfers to Competencies (PA21.1). Defining applicant competencies

To define competencies

  1. Access Competencies (PA21.1).
  2. Use the following guidelines to enter field values:
    Competency

    Select a competency the employee has acquired. This is a required field.

    Rating

    Type a performance rating for the employee's competency. This is a user defined value.

    Proficiency

    Select the proficiency for the applicant's competency.

    Renewal

    Type the date the employee must renew the certification. If you leave this field blank and select a renewal cycle, the application calculates the renewal date based on the Date Acquired field.

    Renewal Cycle

    Select the frequency with which the competency should is renewed. If you leave the Renewal Date field blank, this field can be used to calculate the renewal date.

  3. Select the Change form function.
