Defining qualification codes

Set up your qualification codes before you establish qualifications for a company, job or position. Use qualifications to track complete employee information, to search for able candidates, and to assess gaps between employees' qualifications and the requirements of the job.

To define a qualification code

  1. Access HR Code Setup (HR04.1) and click the HR Codes button.
    Note: Your organization defines what is meant by an Ability, a Skill, Knowledge, and Other Attributes.
  2. In the HR Codes (HR04.2) Type field, select the code category that you want to define and then select the Inquire form function.

    Abilities AB Competency (HR81.4)
    Certification CE Certification (HR81.6)
    Education ED Education Degree (HR81.1)
    Knowledge KN Competency (HR81.4)
    Skill SK Competency (HR81.4)
    Other Attributes OA Competency (HR81.4)
  3. Use the following guidelines to enter field values:
    Code

    Type a code for information you want to track.

    Description

    Type the description to further define the information.

    Status

    Select if the code is active or inactive.

    Web Available

    Select if the employee can view or update the qualification on the web.

    Web Supervisor Available

    Select if the supervisor can view or update the qualification on the web.

    The Level field on Education Degree (HR81.1) is used to determine whether gaps exist.

  4. Select the Add form function.

Options for assigning competencies

For the competency types Skills, Knowledge, Abilities, and Other Attributes, you can assign competencies by clicking on the Competency Proficiency button located on Competency (HR81.4). Assigning proficiency values to competency codes
