Personnel actions

A personnel action is an event that results in a change on employee data for one or more employees. Use personnel actions to update or maintain employee data without accessing the employee master. Personnel actions prompt you to change the employee data that is associated with the action.

Personnel actions are either immediate or pending. An immediate action updates the employee master as soon as you save the action. A pending action does not update until you run the update program. Pending actions let you perform "what if" scenarios. Review and edit the results of an action without changing the employee master.

Personnel Administration uses personnel actions to track changes made to an employee record when the application reports on the employee. If you use the Infor Benefits Administration application, you can define rules that automatically update an employee's benefits when a personnel action is performed. For more information, see the Infor Benefits Administration User Guide. If you use the Infor Payroll application, you use personnel actions to update required deductions based on defined criteria. For more information, see the Infor Payroll User Guide.

Example

Through a reorganization at Miller Construction Corporation, the Training department, which was part of the Design department, is now part of the Human Resources department. To change the process level and department of all the Training department employees, Miller Construction performs a mass transfer action.

Example

The recently negotiated union contract at Miller Construction includes a fifteen cent per hour pay increase for all union members. All union members are included in one employee group. Miller Construction performs a mass pay action on the union employee group to change the pay rate for all union members.

Example

Sharon McNealy, an administrative assistant at Miller Construction, is hired for a quality administrator position. Because Miller Construction uses position rules and positions, a position personnel action is performed to default the position's information into Sharon's employee record.

Example

Carl Simpson is promoted from Supply Manager to Operations Vice President. Miller Construction performs the promotion through the Individual Action program.
