Defining personnel action only data item attributes

A data item is a field used to store employee information. Specific characteristics assigned to a data item are data item attributes. Use Data Item Attributes (HR10.1) to designate when a change to an employee data item must happen through a personnel action. Requiring that changes be made via personnel actions provides assurance that all fields related to an event are changed.

Once you determine which data items will change only through a personnel action, define the personnel actions that accomplish this change. Defining personnel actions

To define personnel action only data item attributes

  1. Access Data Item Attributes (HR10.1).
Note: A topic is a code that refers to specific forms or subforms within Human Capital Management.
  2. Select a topic. Topic E1 displays fields from Employee (HR11.1). Topics E2 through E8 display fields from the tabs of Employee (HR11.1).
  3. Inquire on the topic to display the data items associated with that topic.
  4. In the Update PA Action field, place an X for those data items requiring that changes be made with a personnel action.
Note: Initial values for items marked to update only with personnel actions can be entered directly on Employee (HR11.1). In addition, changes can be made directly on HR11.1 for the duration of the system date on which the record was created.
  5. Select the Change form function.

If you use Employee User Fields, you can also flag them for changing through personnel actions only. For more information, see the Infor Human Resources User Guide.
