What happens when I copy a ledger company?
When you copy a ledger company, the Multi-Book Ledger application copies the existing ledger and assigns it a new name.
-
If you copy only one of the ledger companies, the new ledger contains only that company. The new ledger company has the same current fiscal year and period as the old one. If you requested the balances and transactions to be copied, the new ledger company contains the same balances and transactions as the old ledger company.
-
If you do not select a company, all the ledger companies in the old ledger are copied to the new ledger. If you requested the balances and transactions to be copied, the new ledger companies contain the same balances and transactions as the old ledger companies.
-
For each ledger company that is copied, the Multi-Book Ledger creates a calendar map identical to that of the old ledger company. If you do not copy the balances and transactions, you can delete and re-create the calendar maps. If you transfer the transactions, you cannot change the calendar maps.
-
The new ledger is automatically added to all the ledger groups that the old ledger belongs to.
