What is a Match Class?

A match class contains a hierarchy of elements, which are the line item details used in matching. Line item details are the information used to compare invoice lines to receipt lines when matching. The individual line item detail structures that you define are combined into a single entity called a match class.

A match class can contain a single element or as many as 10 elements. You assign a match class to one or more companies.

For example, you define your match class as Department, Class, and Item. During invoice entry, if you choose to key invoice line detail, you must enter a value for the match elements defined in the match class. Your line item detail would look like the following: 001, 340, 655

where:

  • Department: 001

  • Class: 340

  • Item: 655

If your company does not need multiple elements in item detail, set a single item element to the match class.
