Defining calculations

Use the following procedure to define calculations, which can be used by formulas or tables.

To define a calculation

  1. Access Calculation (LP07.1).
  2. Complete the form. Use the following guidelines to enter field values:
    Calculation

Type a code to identify the calculation.

    Custom Calculation

Select whether the calculation is for a custom calculation program.

You can use either an amount or a custom calculation. If you use a custom calculation, leave the Amount field blank. If you want a reference for a custom calculation, use the fields in the custom calculation tab.

The fields in the Custom Calculation tab are for reference only; they are not used for any calculations.

    Amount

Type an amount to start the calculation.

This field is required, unless you use a custom calculation. If you define a custom calculation, leave this field blank. If you do not need an amount for this calculation, you can enter 1.0000 to multiply the result of the fields below by 1.

    Multiply by Factor

Select a factor by which the start amount is multiplied. If option 1 (Standard hours per pay period) is selected, the amount entered in the Standard Hours field on Employee (HR11.1) will be used.

    Multiply by Service Class

Select a service class by which the starting amount is multiplied.

If the calculation is used for an hours table, the starting amount will be multiplied by the service class hours.

If the calculation is used for an earnings table, the starting amount will be multiplied by the service class earnings.

Service classes cannot be used on calculations that are used on allotment tables, limit tables, or GL tables.

Note: Only hours for qualified positions are counted. Qualified positions are held on Employee Absence Plan Master (LP31.1) or Employee Absence Plan Enrollment (LP32.1). If the enrollments do not hold position information (for example, if you select 1 - Employee Group in the Enrollment Type field on Absence Plan (LP01.1), all hours in the service class for the employee will be counted.
    Multiply by Amount

Type an amount by which the starting amount is multiplied.

    Multiply by User Numeric

Select a user number by which the starting amount is to be multiplied.

    Divide by Factor

Select a factor by which the start amount is divided. If option 1 (Standard hours per pay period) is selected, the amount entered in the Standard Hours field on Employee (HR11.1) will be used.

    Divide by Service Class

Select a service class by which the starting amount is divided.

If the calculation is used for an hours table, the starting amount will be divided by the service class hours.

If the calculation is used for an earnings table, the starting amount will be divided by the service class earnings.

If the enrollments do not hold position information (for example, if you select 1 - Employee Group in the Enrollment Type field on Absence Plan (LP01.1)), all hours in the service class for the employee will be counted.
    Divide by Amount

Type an amount by which the starting amount is divided.

    Divide by User Numeric

Select a user number by which the starting amount is to be divided.
