Service code

Service codes represent the kind of hours (for example, vacation, leave of absence, regular hours) that determine length of service, year- to- date, and life-to-date hours for accrual processing. Service codes indicate whether or not each payroll record should be included in absence calculations.

How you use service codes depends on whether you use Infor Payroll or a third-party payroll application.

Infor Payroll

If you use Infor Payroll, you define service codes to indicate when an employee time record in Payroll should be used for calculating absence plan records. To achieve this, you attach the service code to a pay code, and service records are created during time entry.

The service code will have a one-to-one relationship with a pay code and is entered on Pay Code (PR20.4).

Non-Infor Payroll

If you do not use Infor Payroll, you only have to define these codes on Service Code (LP08.2) Service Code and not tie them to the payroll application. You use the service codes when you use the service entry forms: Employee Service Entry (LP53.1) or Employee Service and Event Conversion (LP553).
