Service rules

Service rules determine the type of date used for the beginning of length-of-service calculations; for example hire date, start date, adjusted hire date, birth date, and so on. Length-of-service calculations are used for accruals and allotments. They determine the amount of time an employee has worked; for example hours, days, weeks, and so on.

Service rules can include waiting periods in case the length of service starts on one date (such as the seniority date) plus a waiting period. The waiting period can begin on a different date than the requirements date.

Example

Everhold Welding's plan specifies that length of service starts on the employee's seniority date or 2 months after hire, whichever is later. A date flag is also available so that when a waiting period is applied from a date different than the requirement date, you can control whether the earlier or later of the resulting dates (requirement date OR waiting period start date plus the waiting period) is used to set the service begin date.
