Your currency setup requirements are dependent on the number of currencies that your organization uses. If your organization conducts business in only one currency, then all you are required to set up is one currency code. If your organization conducts business in more than one currency, then your requirements will be more complex. Those setup procedures are detailed in the Currency User Guide.
