Copying a budget journal entry
To define a budget journal entry that is similar to an existing entry, you can copy the existing budget journal entry, and then make necessary changes. Use this procedure to copy a budget journal entry.
- Access Budget Journal Entry (FB40.1).

Click New Journal Entry to open Define Budget Journal (FB40.2).
Note: You can copy a budget journal entry with any status, including History.

Inquire on the budget journal entry that you will copy.
Note: Do not assign a period to the budget entry that you are creating because one budget journal entry may have transaction lines that cover a number of periods.
- Click Copy to open Additional Information (FB40.4).

Use Additional Information (FB40.4) to select options for copying the budget journal entry. Use these guidelines to specify the field values:
- New Entry

Note: The New Entry company and fiscal year will use the default values from the Existing Entry fields unless you override the values.
- Company

Select the company number where you will copy the journal entry.
- Fiscal Year

Specify the fiscal year where you will copy the journal entry.
- Budget

Specify a new budget number for the new entry that you will create.
- Adjustment Code

Specify or select the budget adjustment code that you will apply to the new budget journal entry. You can specify or select existing and active budget codes only.
- Type, Journal

Select a journal type and an existing journal entry number that you will use for process control of the double budget entry detail.
Note: Leave the New Journal field blank. The system automatically creates the control group number. - Reverse Values

This field enables you to reverse the values of the existing entry in the copied journal entry.
- Copy Comments

This field determines whether you can copy comments for the journal entry.
- New Description

Specify a description for the new journal number. Each transactions line will use this as the default setting.
Note: If you leave this field blank, then the default setting will use the journal header description.
