PunchOut

PunchOut is an industry-standard term describing a process where a requisitioning application is able to access other externally managed catalogs of item data through Internet protocols and pre-defined data instructions and processes. Lawson Procurement Punchout implements the cXML standards and suggested "best practices" for the PunchOut operation. See cXML.org for more details. By design, all items retrieved/requisitioned through PunchOut are considered "Special", or "X-type" items. This is because it is an external entity maintaining the catalog of items which could be requisitioned, the items almost certainly are not Stock (and are not found in the local Lawson "item master") and hence the "Special" designation.
