Setup overview worksheet
-
Discuss with your vendor whether they support cXML Punchout. If not, you cannot continue.
-
If they do support cXML Punchout, you must agree on the authentication credentials to use, and the initial URL to which you will Punchout.
Keep in mind that the vendor must build a web site that is customized for your use with the items and pricing that is specified in your business relationship or contract. This vendor task will take some time to complete before you can begin "punching out" to them.
-
Using the information from the previous step, create a <vendor> section in your RQC configuration file. The value in the "name=" attribute of the <vendor> element must match the User Group Name field value on Punchout User Group (ED41). Save your edits, then reload the RQC configuration file by using the RQC Utilities menu (or by restarting the application server that is hosting RQC).
-
Establish a Template (ED45) record for the vendor. Template Name and Prodline are required. Vendor and Purch Fr Loc are optional. The Client field is not used. The Template Name is arbitrary. Add the record.
-
Establish a User Group (ED41) record for the vendor. User Group Name is required. The value that is specified here must match what is used for the name attribute of the <vendor> section in your RQC configuration file. The Icon field is optional. If the Icon field is used, then specify the location of the vendor's image (not supplied by Lawson) as "../images/<name of image file>. The Url field is not used.
Note: You can use the delivered image file, "../images/noimage.gif" as a default image. If no image or an incorrect image is specified here, a broken icon image is displayed in RQC/Punchout. This does not affect the functionality of RQC or Punchout.
-
Associate one or more requesters with this User Group. This is done in Punchout Users (ED43). Using the drop-down provided, select the User Group name established previously. Add the users and specify the appropriate Requester value. Add the Template Name. Add the record. Repeat for each requisitioner (user).
-
Test the setup by launching RQC, select Punchout. You will see an icon, or at least a placeholder for one, representing the vendor that you just set up. Click this icon to test the connection.
-
Some vendors require that you send extra information when you punchout to them. These are usually conveyed in the <Extrinsic> element of the PunchOutSetupRequest document. In Lawson, these are called Punchout Attributes (ED53). Use the ED53 form to establish name/value pairs. In the Attribute Name field, specify the name of the <Extrinsic> element that is required by the vendor. The Attribute Name field is case sensitive. Specify the corresponding value in the Attribute Value field. Add the attribute record. Then associate this attribute to the relevant Punchout User Group (ED41) record or Punchout Users (ED43) record. It is likely that these <Extrinsic> elements contain user-level information. To have a single attribute/Extrinsic apply to the entire vendor relationship, attach the Punchout Attribute record to the vendor's Punchout User Group record.
