How EDI uses the substitution table
When EDI finds a trading partner match for a transaction, EDI starts the translation process and calls the map specified in the trading partner record. The Lawson EDI translation server then extracts all the records from the EDI substitution database table and writes them to a temporary file that is made available to the map found on the trading partner record. The map references the substitution table to look up substitution values. That is, the map expects to use certain list names in the map (for example, LO_O_SHIPTO) to substitute input data with values it finds in the Substitution database . If no entry has been made in the substitution table for a particular list name required by the trading partner, or if an incorrect entry has been made, an error message is generated.
