Correcting an error in the substitution table
Typically, a translation error is the result of a missing or incorrect entry in Data Substitution Table Setup (ED40.1), most commonly a missing or incorrect SHIPTO entry.
You could also receive an error if a value exceeds the number of characters set by ASC X12 standards for a given element. For example, you might receive this error if your unit of measure is more than the ASC X12 standard of two characters for the unit of measure case (for example, CSE instead of CA).
This example describes an error in the substitution table and how to correct it.
