Setup considerations for interfacing Lawson and a WMS
Before Lawson and a WMS can begin interfacing, some basic setup is required. This list identifies setup considerations for interfacing Lawson and the WMS:
-
The system interface is used with both inbound and outbound Lawson and WMS functionality going live at the same time.
-
Only transactional data, processed by WMS, is downloaded.
-
Items in the item master in Lawson are not greater than 25 bytes.
-
All items and materials on transactions downloaded to WMS are present in the WMS item master. Non-stock (N) and special-stock (X) items in Lawson are not supported by the interface and WMS.
-
The Lawson - WMS interface does not support item detail processing when data is imported into Lawson. If required, batch/lot, serial number, and bin inventory levels are managed in WMS alone. Lawson does not download batch/lot, serial number, or bin information on shipment pick lists or purchase orders. WMS does not upload this information to Lawson.
-
WMS always receives purchase order information to process the receipt of goods. Blind receiving is not allowed in WMS.
-
When items are received in the warehouse, WMS triggers receiving in Lawson. WMS determines the items that need inspection. After inspection, any rejected quantities are transferred to a different Inventory Control location.
-
Shipment pick list changes or cancellations are initiated in WMS.
-
Lawson is responsible for generating backorder shipment pick lists or cancelling the balance if the actual shipped quantity is less than the requested pick quantity.
-
A customer return authorization must exist for a customer return receipt to be posted against in Lawson.
-
No changes to customer returns are allowed after the download to WMS. Only full return cancellations are allowed. WMS updates the return using their Verify Receipts PIX based on the actual items received. WMS can send customer return receipts for items not on the original return authorization. WMS is allowed to send return receipt quantities that exceed the original requested quantities.
