Goods

The goods a customer orders can come from several places, including your warehouse or an external vendor.

If you have the goods in stock, you can ship the goods directly to your customer. If you do not have the goods in stock, then you can order the items from a vendor. The vendor can then deliver the goods to you or directly to your customer. See Kinds of orders.

You can also use the customer and vendor roles, set up in Inventory Control, to order goods. You can then share inventory between companies that cross country borders. You, as the customer, places a drop ship order with another company, as the vendor, who can either ship the goods to your customer or you. See Intercompany order fulfillment.
