Creating advance ship notices

You can run Shipment Release (WH190) to send electronic advance ship notices to your EDI customers. The advance ship notices tells customers when to expect a shipment, so they can prepare for its arrival.

Follow these steps to create advance ship notices:

  1. Run Shipment Release (WH190) to create the advance ship notice in Lawson flat file format.

    In the Create Flat File field, select Yes and the program creates a flat file called WHSHIPREL-NAME in this directory:

    $LAWDIR/ productline /work/WHSHIPREL-NAME (UNIX)

    %LAWDIR%\ productline \work\WHSHIPREL-NAME (Windows)

    LAWDIR/ productline /work/WHSHIPREL-NAME (IBMi)

  2. Translate the flat file into ANSI X12 format.
  3. Send the flat file to the customer.
