Offering a sales quote to a customer

You can offer a sales quote to a customer by entering items on the order form, without releasing the order or affecting inventory. This procedure explains how to offer a sales quote.

  1. Access Item Entry (OE10.3).
  2. Define header information as if it were a customer order.
  3. Click Order Opts to define this order as a sales quote.
  4. On Order Options (OE12.1), select Y (Yes) in the Sales Quote field.
  5. Select the Change form action on Order Options (OE12.1).
  6. Select the items and quantities.
Note: Because this is a sales quote, inventory is not allocated when you add the quote.
  7. To save the sales quote, select the Add form action. If the customer wants to order the items, then continue to the next step. If not, then you have completed the sales quote.
Note: If you change the sales quote to a customer order, then inventory is allocated if you use online allocation. Otherwise, use the batch allocation method to allocate inventory.
  8. If the customer wants to order the items on the sales quote, then select N (No) in the Sales Quote field on Order Options (OE12).
    1. Select the Change form action on Order Options (OE12).
Note: You cannot release a sales quote, only a customer order.
  9. Release the customer order.
