Changing Maintenance Schedule Amounts

After a maintenance schedule is created, if you change an amount on the schedule, you must perform the following steps to ensure that journal entries are created correctly.

  1. After changing the maintenance schedule amount, change the free maintenance amounts for the appropriate product(s) on Product Contract (BR51.1).

This is necessary because the free maintenance amount is used to calculate the amount of revenue available to be recognized. If the amount of the free maintenance schedule is only changed on the maintenance schedule and not on the product contract, the amount of revenue recognized on the product contract will be incomplete.

  2. Create a contract adjustment journal entry using Contract Adjustment (AC Only) (BR41.1) or Contract Adjustment (AC and GL) (BR41.4). This adjustment reflects the reclassification between the product and maintenance billed accounts for the amount of the change being made.
