Defining a Vesting Schedule

The vesting schedule determines when a company's contributions become non-forfeitable to an employee based on years of service.

To define vesting schedule

  1. Access Vesting Schedule (BN03.1).
  2. Type the code and a description that represent the vesting schedule in the Schedule field.
  3. Use the following guidelines to enter field values:
    Periods of Service

    Type the number of years of service required for each level of vesting. At least one year must be defined.

    Vesting can be based on plan year, calendar year or employment year as defined in the Vest Comp tab of Benefit Plan (BN15.1). Defining vesting and covered compensation information

    Vested Percent

    Type the employee's vested percentage for this year of service.

  4. Select the Add form function.
