Defining Account Selection dimension criteria

  1. When you specify Selection on EB10.3 and the budget dimension's source is Accounts, the Account Selection (EB11.1) form displays.
  2. On Account Selection (EB11.1), select the Chart Name. Accounts for the dimension will come from the General Ledger chart of accounts that you select.
  3. Select the appropriate Function Code (Add, Change, or Delete) for each Summary Account.
  4. Select a Summary Account.
  5. Select the Detail Level for the summary account. The detail level determines how accounts will be populated in the dimension. These are the available options:
    • Posting Accounts. Select this to include the detail posting accounts and subaccounts attached to the summary account you specified.

Note: If you select Posting Accounts and the summary account that you specified has no detail accounts attached to it, then no accounts will be populated in the dimension.
    • Posting Accounts without Subaccounts. Select this to include only the detail posting accounts attached to the summary account that you specified. Any subaccounts attached to the summary account that you specified are excluded.

    • Children of Summary Account. Select this to include summary accounts that are subordinates of the summary accounts that you specified. No detail accounts will be populated in the dimension.

    • Summary Account Only. Select this to include only the summary account you specified. No subordinate summary accounts or detail accounts will be included.

Note: If you are planning to budget by summary account (detail levels Children of Summary Account or Summary Account Only), then you cannot export your budget to the General Ledger. General Ledger budgets require detail accounts. However, you can export summary account budgets to the Financials data mart.
  6. Select one of these available Account Type options: This value identifies the summary account (and its detail accounts), if selected, for the budget application.
    • Asset

    • Liability

    • Equity

    • Revenue

    • Expense

Note: If the summary account is associated with multiple account types, then you can override the account type on Account List Detail (EB12.2).
  7. Click Preview to see the accounts that are members of the budget dimension. The Member Preview (EB12.1) form displays.
  8. On Member Preview (EB12.1), click one of these buttons:
    • Click Update List to build a list of members for the dimension based on your account selection criteria.

Note: If this is a new budget, then you must click this button to build your list for the first time.
    • Click View Current List to view a list of members for the dimension. The Account List Detail (EB12.2) form displays.

Note: This action does not rebuild the list.
  9. (Optional) Override the account type for a summary or a detail account by selecting Override Type. Use this step only to change an account type for a member.
  10. Select how you want to include the account from the budget metadata. You can select one of these options for the Include field:
    • Select I to include the account in the budget metadata. This is the default value for all accounts.

    • Select E to exclude the account from the budget metadata.
