Defining the budget
To define the budget, complete these steps:.
- Access the Budget Architect application by performing a form transfer to Budget Architect (EB10.1). This will display Budget Architect (EB10.1).
-
Complete these fields on EB10.1 to define
your budget:
- Budget Name and description
-
Specify a name for your budget and a short description. Generally, you must create one budget for each data set that you have in the Pillar application. You can construct multiple budget reports from a single budget.
Note: If you are opening an existing budget, then select the Budget Name and select Inquire to fill in the rest of the fields on EB10.1. - Planning Periods
-
Select the time periods that you use to create budgets. The available options are (M)onthly or (Q)uarterly.
- Fiscal Years
-
Select the beginning and ending years for data values that you want to supply to this budget. For example, you can supply current year actuals as values for next year's budget.
- Budget Status
-
Select whether the budget has an active or inactive status. If you select Active, then the budget data can be imported and exported to and from the budget application. If you select Inactive, then no importing or exporting of budget data can occur.
- Quarterly Redistribution
-
If you budget quarterly in your budget application, but you want to export budgets to Lawson in a monthly format, then select the value that represents how the periods in each quarter are distributed. Specifically, you are defining how many weeks are included in each period of a quarter. Select one of these redistribution types for each period:
-
Equal divides the weeks in each period evenly.
-
4-4-5 divides the weeks in each period so that there are 4 weeks in the first and second periods and 5 weeks in the third period.
-
5-4-4 divides the weeks in each period so that there are 5 weeks in the first period and 4 weeks in the second and third periods.
-
4-5-4 divides the weeks in each period so that there are 4 weeks in the first and third periods and 5 weeks in the second period.
-
- Budget Number
-
If you intend to export budgets from your budget application to Lawson General Ledger or Project Accounting, then specify a 3-digit number for the budget. This number should correspond to a budget number that you have assigned in General Ledger or Project Accounting.
