Creating Chargebacks
The following procedures will detail how to create chargebacks, edit, and update the system so you can print the chargeback notice to the customer. Chargebacks can be done during cash application. There are three types of chargebacks:
-
Detail - this will create a separate chargeback debit memo and payment notice for each invoice charged back. If you are creating Detailed chargebacks, the program uses the flag in Detail Chargeback Dates field as defined on Customer Defaults (AR08.1) or Customer (AR10.1). If this is a national account situation, the transaction customer receives the chargeback.
-
Summary - this will create one chargeback debit memo and payment notice for multiple invoices charged back. The chargeback will have the characteristics of the payment. In a national account situation, the national account customer receives the chargeback on their account.
-
Memo - use memo chargebacks when a customer has taken unauthorized deductions (such as credit memos) but they are not short paying any particular invoice. You can specify whether the national account or the invoice customer receives the chargeback.
