Defining the chart of accounts

The chart of accounts is the backbone to your financial system. Use this procedure as a guideline on how to define your chart of accounts. See the General Ledger User Guide.

  1. Assign a name and description for your chart of accounts.
  2. Select whether it is a balance sheet or income statement account.
  3. Define summary accounts.
  4. Select totaling depths.
  5. Define detail and system accounts.
