Can an asset added from Lawson Procurement or from Project Accounting be part of the physical inventory?

You can associate assets interfaced from Lawson Procurement or Project Accounting with a bar code and location so that they can be part of the physical inventory. But you cannot do so with a handheld terminal.

Assets interfaced from Lawson Procurement

There are multiple ways you can assign a bar code and other physical inventory information to an asset interfaced from Lawson Procurement.

  • Before an asset is interfaced to Asset Management (before the invoice is released).

    • If you use Purchase Order, you can access PO Line Asset Details (AM19.1) when receiving (PO30.1), returning (PO31.1), adjusting (PO33,1), inspecting (PO34.1), or invoicing (MA43.1) a purchase order line for a capital purchase.

PO Line Asset Details (AM19.1) lets you associate bar code and other physical inventory information to a purchase order asset line detail.

Note: You can access PO Line Asset Details (AM19.1) directly if you know the company, purchase order, and line number for which you want to specify physical inventory information.
    • If you specify an invoice for a depreciable asset directly in Accounts Payable, you can access Asset Management (AP22.2) by specifying bar code and other physical inventory information for each invoice distribution line.

  • After the invoices are released and they are written to the Asset Management Interface file, you can manually add a bar code and location detail to each interfaced item.

  • After you create assets from the interfaced records, using the Release function of AM15.1, AM15.2, or AM115, you can add physical inventory information to the newly created assets.

Because interfaced assets are created in an Entered state, you can add bar code and other physical inventory information to interfaced asset items on AM20.3 before you release the assets.

  • After you release the assets, you can still add bar code information to asset items by using an adjustment. Assigning bar codes to existing assets

Assets interfaced from Project Accounting

For assets interfaced from Project Accounting activities, you can add some physical inventory information for an activity line on AM15.3 or AM15.4, but you can add bar code information only after releasing the interface records, using the Release function of AM15.3, AM15.4, or AM115 to create actual assets.

Because interfaced assets are created in an Entered state, you can add bar code and other physical inventory information to interfaced asset items on AM20.3 before you release the assets.

After you release the assets, you can still add bar code information to asset items by using an adjustment. The process is the same as described in this user guide in the topic about assigning bar code to existing assets.Assigning bar codes to existing assets
