Defining asset groups

An asset group is a label that you add to a new or existing asset to group it with other assets that have the same label for processing or reporting purposes.

There are two ways to define an asset group:

  • You can specify a new asset group name when you add an asset. The asset group is created automatically and you can use Asset Group (AM13.1) to add a description to the asset group name.

  • You can predefine asset group names on Asset Groups (AM13.2) and select an asset group when you add an asset.

Define asset groups

  1. Access Asset Groups (AM13.2).
Note: For asset groups that you create when you add an asset, the asset group name defaults as the description. You can change the description.
  2. Specify the name and description of each asset group you want to define.

You cannot delete asset groups that have assets assigned to them.
