Location detail

A location detail defines the exact space where an asset item is located. A location detail is a subset of a location and can consist of up to three location levels totalling a maximum of 14 characters.

For example, a location detail gives you the flexibility to locate an asset item in a specific room (level 3) on a specific floor (level 2) of a specific building (level 1) in a city (location).

Note: If you have many location details, you should plan the location detail naming scheme before you start defining any location details.

A location can have an unlimited number of location details. If you print the Location Detail Workbook to a bar-code capable printer, the three location levels are combined and printed as a single space bar code. The location detail bar codes are also printed as space labels and affixed to the physical inventory space that they represent.

You must define the locations and location details before you can print the space labels.

Because assets are bar-coded and tracked at the item level, it is possible for items belonging to the same asset to be in different locations.
