Example

You want to track insurance information and have already created these attributes:

Attribute:

Element:

Values:

INSURANCE CO Insurance Company

ALPHA 32; Type: Alpha Size: 32

AETNA NEW YORK LIFE PRUDENTIAL

Attribute:

Element:

Values:

POLICY NB Policy Number

ALPHA 32; Type: Alpha Size: 32

Blank (means any alphanumeric value allowed)

Attribute:

Element:

Values:

DEDUCTIBLE Insurance Deductible

NUMERIC9; Type: Numeric Size: 9

Blank (means any numeric value allowed)

To assign specific insurance values to these asset attributes, you can manually add the appropriate values to each attribute individually. But assuming the vast majority of the cars you buy are insured with Aetna and have a $250.00 deductible, you can save time by specifying these values in a template and selecting the template for any asset that is a vehicle.

  1. Create an attribute template CAR_INS_TPL (car insurance template) that contains these attributes and values:
    INSURANCE CO AETNA
    DEDUCTIBLE 250
Note: To assign a different set of values for these attributes, you can create another template, or change the values manually after they have been added.
  2. When adding an asset for a car, select the CAR_INS_TPL template to automatically add these values to the asset.
