Procedure flow: Transferring assets from a handheld terminal

Transfer assets from a handheld terminal

  1. Select the Asset Transfer function on the handheld terminal.
  2. Specify or scan the bar code for each item to be transferred.
    1. Scan or specify each item's bar code
    2. If the item has a quantity other than 1, specify the quantity to be transferred
  3. Specify or scan the location and (optionally) the location detail that the item is transferred to.
Note: You can scan the location and location detail from the space label of the space that the item is transferred to, or from the Location Detail Workbook for the location.
  4. Interface the HHT data to the Asset Management application.
    1. Save and download the HHT transfer file, named xx -AMTRF.txt, to the client PC.
    2. Transfer xx -AMTRF.txt to your environment using a transfer utility such as ftp.
    3. Use AM Bar Code File Interface (AM154) to interface xx -AMTRF.txt to the Asset Management AMASSETTRF DBAMATF file.

      Specify this information:

      Process Type

      Select TRF (Transfer).

      File Name

If you changed the system-assigned file name of xx -AMTRF.txt, specify the name of the file in this field.

If you kept the system-assigned file name, the program automatically locates and processes xx -AMTRF.txt.

Note: The HHT transfers exist in Asset Management as unreleased transfers.
  5. Process the asset transfer:
    1. Access Transfers (AM30.1)
    2. Inquire on unreleased transfers.
    3. Follow the procedure on transferring individual assets. Transferring individual assets

The assets to be transferred are preselected to match the handheld terminal selections. You cannot change the selections without causing inventory mismatch errors. You can add financial transfer data to the selected transfers. For example, you can specify a new accounting unit group on an interfaced transfer.
