Defining a compute statement

A compute statement is an arithmetic equation consisting of Lawson data dictionary names, total names, operation symbols, and numeric values that you can use to create customized calculation formulas. In Project Accounting, you use compute statements to calculate budgets or allocations. Use this procedure to define a compute statement that you can use to calculate a computed budget or allocation.

If the data dictionary was not loaded as part of your initial installation, then run Data Dictionary Load (RW590) to load the pre-defined dictionary.

  1. Access Compute Statement (RW50.1).
  2. Define the name and folder for the compute statement. Specify this information:
    Compute

Specify a name and provide a description for the compute statement you are defining.

    Folder

Select a folder where to store the compute statement information.

    See Report Writer User Guide.

  3. Define the compute statement equation.
Note: When you select data dictionary names, you can use Drill Around to see the optional parameters accepted.
  4. Select the applications to use the compute statement. Specify this information:
    Report Writer

Leave this field blank for compute statements that contain activity data dictionary names.

    Ratio

Leave this field blank for compute statements that contain activity data dictionary names.

    General Ledger Allocation

Leave this field blank for compute statements that contain activity data dictionary names.

    General Ledger Budgeting

Leave this field blank for compute statements that contain activity data dictionary names.

    Activity Management

Select Activity Management to use the compute statement in Project Accounting.

    Lease Management

Leave this field blank for compute statements that contain activity data dictionary names.

Note: Compute statements containing activity-related data dictionary names are used only in Project Accounting.
  5. Leave the Default Heading fields blank. These fields are not required for compute statements used in Project Accounting.
