Defining factors

If you want to define budgets manually, you can have the application automatically calculate the budget amount from the units and rate you specify. For example, if the budget is for labor costs, then you can specify the standard labor rate per hour and the number of hours as the budget units. You can assign a name and description to a rate, making it easier for users to select an appropriate rate. Use this procedure to define those names and descriptions for rates, called factors.

Follow these steps to define a factor:

  1. Access Global Factors (FB00.1).
  2. Define a factor for use in any activity group or activity budget. Use these guidelines to specify the field values:
    Factor and Description

Specify a name and description for the factor that will help users recognize and select an appropriate rate when defining budgets.

    Markup Percent

Select No to identify the factor as a rate per hour or per unit.

Select Yes if the factor is calculated as a percent, as in inflation.

    Status

Select the status of the factor. The default setting is Active.

    Rate

Specify the percentage or rate per hour or per unit.
