Salary Cap Schedule (GM05.1)

Use Salary Cap Schedule (GM05,1) to define and maintain salary cap schedules for activities (grants).

A salary cap schedule consists of a name, currency, type, and one or more annual salary cap amounts with effective dates.

Salary cap schedules are assigned to posting grant activities that are subject to salary caps. You can determine whether to use the salary cap amount that was in effect when the grant began, or the newest, active salary cap amount in the schedule.

Salary caps are used in labor distribution templates to alert you when an employee’s salary exceeds the cap for a given activity. A special function allows you to apply salary cap rules to change the activity’s salary distribution percentage so that the amount of employee pay charged to the grant does not exceed the cap. A new template distribution line is created for the salary in excess of the cap. Follow-the-originator rules in the activity determine where the overage distribution is charged.

Salary cap schedules are also used by Salary Cap Alert Report (GM412) to let users know when an employee's salary exceeds the cap for a grant.
