Adding a new metadata
Perform this procedure to add metadata from the application database to the data source you created.
- Click the Data Sources tab.
 - Right-click the data source where you want to import metadata.
 - Select Import Metadata and the data connection you want to use.
 - Specify the SQL Server.
 - Select the authentication type.
 - Specify your user name and password. Click Connect.
 - Optionally, select Save Connection Setting to store the settings on selected data sources. It only saves the last connection settings in each platform.
 - Select a database tables you want to import. Click Next.
           Note:
For ODBC data sources, you only need to select the data source from the tree view and enter the credentials. The database is already defined in the ODBC DSN.
 - Import both tables and views. Click Next.
 - Select the tables you want to import from the list of available objects, to the list of selected objects.
 - Select the data source where you want to import the metadata.
 - Select the language you want to use.
 - Click Advanced below the New System.
 - Opens a menu with these options: 
           
- Select Add new metadata only , to import a new metadata.
 - Select Update existing metadata, to update by overriding existing metadata with imported metadata.
             
- Delete obsolete metadata, to remove objects that do not exist in the current metadata selection.
 
- Retain existing definitions, to keep object definitions during update of existing metadata. 
               Note: Retain existing definitions, is the default option. Clear these options if not required:
- Visible
 - Imported metadata can be viewed in Explorer.
 - Hidden
 - To filter metadata to view objects
 - Transform to Catalog
 - To create catalog objects from imported metadata
 - Append System Name to Catalog Name
 - To append a system name to catalog objects
 
 
 
 - Click Finish.
           
The status of the import is displayed.
The data source is updated with the metadata.
Click Close.
