Creating Variables with multiple values

Use these instructions to create variables with multiple values

Create variables with multiple values.

  1. Select Administration > Variables from the menu bar. The Variable window is displayed.
  2. Click New. The Variable form is displayed..
  3. Specify this information for the variable.
    Name

    Specify a name for the variable.

    Note: Avoid using spaces in the variable name.
    Value

    Specify the values for the variable.

    1. Click the modify button (double arrows) to the right of the Value field.
    2. In the Variable Value List window, specify a value and click +.
      Note: 

      Specify as many values as required.

    3. To remove a value, highlight the value and click x.
    4. Click Save & Close to update the variable values in the Variable Values List.
    Note: 

    After you specify multiple values, you cannot to edit the Value field on the main Variables window.

    To update any values, click the modify button (double arrows) to the right of the Values field.

    Description

    Specify a short description for the variable.

    Data Type

    Chose one of these:

    • Integer

    • Float

    • String

    • Date

    Context

    Select a category from the drop-down list.

    Note: 

    If there are no existing categories, select <New Context Category> and specify the category name.

    Variable Type

    Select the radio button for the type of variable you are creating:

    • SQL Server Object variable

      This variable is used to define SQL Server object names such as database, schema, table, or column names that cannot be defined as a variable in T-SQL syntax.

      Note: 

      Run-time variable cannot have multiple values.

  4. Click Save & Close. The variable you created is now in the list box.
