Extracting the Source Data

Perform this procedure to populate the data source with the data that you imported.

Extract the data source

  1. On the Data Sources pane, right-click a compiled object, then click Execute > Now!.

    Data extraction begins.

    Note:

If the extraction takes longer than 10 minutes, the extraction will be cancelled and will have to be run by background job. Background jobs may be more efficient for larger databases stored remotely.

  2. After the data extraction is completed, click Exit.
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for all the compiled objects in the model.

After the extraction is complete, you can view the contents by right-clicking the object and selecting Browse Data.

  4. If the objects are not displayed on the Designers tab, transform them to catalog to make them available to DWD.
    1. Right-click the data source, then click Transform Objects to Catalog.
    2. On the Transform Objects to Catalog window, select the objects to transfer.
    3. Click Import.

After the data source objects are imported, they will be displayed on the Designers tab.

      Note:

By default no column is active after the import.

    4. Activate the columns in the tables. For more information, see Implementing Source Tables
  5. Recompile the objects.

Right-click the object, then click Recompile.

Ensure that all objects are compiled.
