Analyzing the compiled model

Perform these steps to view a summary of the compiled model. You can also export the analysis to Microsoft Excel or Comma Separated Values (CSV) for viewing and printing.

Note: Microsoft Office Excel must be installed. Otherwise, the export process fails.

To analyze a compiled model:

  1. On the DWD Designer, click the Data Warehouse tab.
  2. To locate the compiled model, expand the Data Warehouse tree.
  3. Right-click the model name and select Analyze.
  4. Select the presentation method and click the Next button.
    • Select Internal DWD Presentation to view the summary within DWD.
    • Select Microsoft Excel Workbook to export the summary.
    • Select Comma Separated Values (CSV) to export the summary.

    DWD generates an analysis of the compiled model. The analysis contains four tabbed sheets:

    Sheet Contents
    Model Overview The Model Overview tab shows all the objects in the compiled model. These are the objects included in the analysis:
    • Fact and Dimension tables
    • Data sources
    • Source objects or tables
    • Modeling objects
    Dependencies The Dependencies tab shows a table of all the dependencies in the compiled model.
    Mapping The Mapping tab shows the mapping correspondence in the compiled model between source object columns and dimensions and facts.
    Column Overview The Column Overview tab shows mapping between the source objects and the dimension and fact tables.
