Create a decoder

  1. On the DWD Designer, click the Designers tab.
  2. Right-click Decoders and select New Decoder.
  3. On the Create a New Decoder window, specify a name for the Decoder.
  4. Expand the catalog to locate and open the source table.

    When you select the source table, DWD Designer shows it in the middle pane of the window.

  5. Move the tables you wish to edit from the middle pane to the right-hand pane:
    • Double-click the source table.

    • Highlight the source table and click the arrow button.

    The selected table icons becomes gray.

  6. On the Column Mapping tab, select a table that contains columns you wish to edit then move to the right pane.
  7. In the lower left-hand pane, double-click the column icon to move it to the right-hand pane.
  8. Double click the column and edit as desired. Specify this information:
    General tab
    • Description

    • Data Type

    • Column Default

    • Remap the Column

    • Column Options

    Dependencies tab

    Update Dependencies

    Functions tab

    Select columns to transfer to right pane, then construct definitions using logic operators provided.

    • Modify the view of the objects and columns using the controls: This object, All Visible, Dependent, and All.

    • Select Formula operator buttons from the right pane while the actual expression appears in the lower left pane.

    • Click Larger, Smaller, Refresh to control font size and refresh the editor contents.

  9. Click OK.
