Creating a New Data Source System
In Create a data source system, an option to transform to Unicode is provided by changing the values for the character sets.
Follow these instructions to create a data source system.
Create a data source system
- Open DWD Designer window > Data Sources.

Right-click All Data Sources > New Data Source System.
The New Source System window opens.

Specify this information:
- System Name

This field is the name of the source system you will create.
- System Type

This field pertains to the type of database you will connect to the new source system.
The default is Source/Staging.
- Show All Connections

You can select this check box to see all of the available connections in the System Type field.
- Extract from Data source

This field pertains to the type of connection you want to use for the data source. If the connection you want to use does not exist, then you must create it.

- Category

This field identifies the type of system connection when exporting and importing metadata.
Always create a new category for each system. Write SRC in the Description field of the new category so that the new category can be used with a source system.
Note:If you will not use M3 data as the source data, you can select External Sources > Other Source.
- Stage extracted data

This field pertains to the DWD database where you will extract data.
- Character Sets

Select from these character sets:

Transform Source System to Unicode
Select this button if your data source is Singlebyte (char / varchar) and you want your Source System to be Unicode (nchar / nvarchar).

No Transformation of Source System
Select this button if you want your data source and Source system to remain the same (Singlebyte – Singlebyte / Unicode – Unicode).
