Creating a profile

Each user requires a log on profile. A profile contains information required to connect to local or remote SQL server from a DWD installation.

This procedure allows you to add a new profile without running the DWD server setup.

Note:

When you add a new profile without running Server Setup, you have to manually set the data sources for the new profile.

You should know the name of the SQL server and the connecting database.

Create a profile

  1. On the launch screen, click Tasks > Add a profile.
  2. Specify the profile name.
  3. Click the arrow button.
  4. Specify the server name.
  5. Specify the database name. Click the binoculars to scan for databases on the named server.
If you are connecting to an Availability Group Listener and Availability Database, select Enable High Availability Setup option.
  6. Select the authentication type:
    • Windows uses the user's window log on identity.

    • SQL Server requires a user name and password that will authenticate the user on the SQL server.

  7. Click the arrow button.

The new profile is listed under Login Profiles > Local SQL Server.
