Disposals (AM40.1)

Use Disposals (AM40.1) to dispose of assets. This program processes full asset and partial asset disposals.

If you select Full, the function Quick Disposal is enabled. The Quick Disposal function allows you to dispose of an asset in just one screen. You have the ability to vary the Proceeds and Expense amounts by book using the Book Override tab.

If you select P (Partial) in the Disposal field, the program navigates to Items (AM40.2). You can then select the items involved in the disposal and indicate the quantity to be disposed for each item. Then you can select items to be disposed of and can change each item quantity.

Processing Effect

Once you start the disposal and select the items (in the case of a partial item disposal only), the program navigates to Gain or Loss (AM40.3), where system-prompted proceeds, cost of sales, disposal depreciation and gain or loss amounts are calculated in each asset book currency. You can accept or change any of these amounts.

After AM40.3, the program navigates to Journal Entries (AM40.4), the general ledger entry program where you can add, change, or accept system-prompted entries. The general ledger date defaults from the disposal date. Once you have disposed of assets, you can release (update) them either online using AM40.1 or in mass using Processing Release (AM170).

If journal entries are created, the program will not navigate to AM40.4 even if the Display Journal Entries option is enabled in the System Options (AM16.1). To view the entries, navigate to AM40.4 or run the Transaction Report (AM275) report.
