Factor (AC30.5)
Use Factor (AC30.5) to define a factor driver for an allocation. A factor is a weighted value associated with each activity in an allocation. the allocation percentage is determined by dividing each factor's value by the total factor values in all allocation lines. Two kinds of factors exist: fixed and dynamic.
A fixed factor is an unchanging value for weighting, such as square footage. Fixed factors must be maintained in each allocation line, and are best used for values that change infrequently.
A dynamic factor is mapped to a value in any activity, and may change. Dynamic factors are determined from account category balances; they can be single account categories or a range of account categories. Dynamic factors are best used for factors already stored in activities, such as current period hours, labor costs or revenue.
