List Allocation (AC30.3)
Use List Allocation (AC30.3) to post an allocation to a list of activities. List allocations require a single pool, which can consist of activity balances or GL balances (amounts or units). The pool is allocated to activities that are members of a list. The percentage allocated to the activities in the list is determined by a compute statement. You can use automatic or manual lists in a list allocation.
If the post-to activities change frequently and can be identified with an automatic list, you can reduce the allocation maintenance since the list is dynamically generated each time the allocation is processed.
Processing Effect
List allocations have an activity posting option which determines how the allocation is calculated.
- The pool option allows you to calculate and add amounts to activities in the pool, such as adding a capital interest charge to activities in a construction project. For the pool option, an activity pool is required. The activity list assigned to the pool must be the same as the post-to activity list.
- The consolidate options allows you to allocate pool balances to a large or frequently changing set of activities, such as allocating project management costs to a list of activities based on the ratio of each activity's hours to total project hours.
